If you have any type of web property then you know that traffic is the lifeblood of your property. Without traffic you cannot expect to earn much. While you know of the usual traffic generating methods such as article marketing, video marketing and forum posting, there is a world of traffic generators out there that are not only strange, but weird as well. Here is a look at five of them.
Pay someone to like and suggest your website to FaceBook friends
This is one that falls in the category of strange and weird. Essentially this service provider will lie to friends and family by liking and suggesting your site, regardless of the topic of your site, to drive traffic to your web property.
Using looks to get traffic
This one is totally strange and weird, BUT if the right niche is used it can drive a large amount of traffic – basically an attractive person such as a female stands in front of camera in provocative clothing holding a sign with your website name on it. Strange yes, but if you are in the dating niche then this could totally slam your servers with traffic.
Using a viral stunt
This one is weird and will cost a ton of money, BUT if it gets the right media coverage it could get you mountains of traffic. It’s basically a publicity stunt where someone gets your company name or website name tattooed on them. Be sure to have video taken and get a press release done. If you can get media coverage during the tattoo then that would be a huge boost. Not suggested, but a strange share nonetheless.
Ever seen a van or truck with a magnetic sign with a website on it in large letters? I am sure you have. This one is weird and in my opinion a little useless. It seems like a total waste while driving as you will be zooming by too quickly for someone to memorize or try to write down. May be more useful if it is a general niche that locals in your area could benefit from and if the vehicle is parked somewhere that is very visible.
The bait and switch
This one is definitely weird and can actually make people mad, but it can work if you have a website you are sure people will stay on once they get there. You can create a link promising something crazy like free money and have it link to your site – again, not recommended, but definitely worthy of the share.
These are tactics that are by no means suggested, but worthy of some consideration if you are into weird traffic methods and are not afraid of making a few or more people upset. Please use these methods at your own discretion and please do not blame me if you do test them out and find you get negative results. Just thought I would give you a laugh and make you smile today with these strange and weird tactics.
